I recommended Episencial's Soothing Cream to the customer and she sent me the e-mail below. I hope all you mamas with children with ezcema find some hope in this!

"Growing up, I have always had to battle eczema. Finding products that will not irritate my skin further has been quite an adventure throughout my lifetime. The wrong moisturizer or soap could easily leave me looking like a person with measles. My quest for finding the perfect lotion without having to use a prescription full of harsh chemicals, has been something I have done all of my life.

As the mother of a toddler with extreme eczema, I am always on the lookout for a great moisturizing product that won’t irritate my son’s skin. Like me, my little guy’s skin gets irritated easily and he can go from having skin “soft as a baby’s bottom,” to “skin like a fish’s body,” in one trip to the pool. Medical providers have told me to cut back on the number of bath’s for my son and to forget about letting him ever take a bubble bath. A bubble bath? That is one of the joys of bath time for a child!

Happy Cotton Tails has recently started carrying the Episencial brand of natural skin products. They range from lotions and body washes to bubble bath and sunscreen. Aside from the adorable design using “The Very Hungry Caterpillar,” these products are the bomb.com! After giving you a little history, you can tell that I have tried many, many products for my family’s skin. The soothing cream is amazing! It is the denser product made for “itchy, bothered skin comfort.” Although it is thicker than the regular lotion, it does not feel heavy or greasy. A little of this product goes a long way. I saw a huge difference in my son’s skin within the first few days of use, and I haven’t stopped using it! After a week, I started using the product on myself as well and couldn’t be happier with the results! As most women know, you have to be extremely careful with products used on your face or your babies sensitive skin. I have no problem using the soothing cream on my face. Because it is all natural, my skin does not get irritated or break out. I keep a bottle of this lotion everywhere-the bathroom, the car, the pool bag, and even at grandma’s house! Because of this cream, I am able to let my son take longer, more frequent baths, and yes, he can even enjoy the bubble bath! I would highly recommend this soothing cream to any household whether you suffer from dry skin or not!

Thank you Happy Cotton Tails for carrying such a great product!"

Typically every item I carry I have tried and loved. Every once in awhile there is a product that I haven't had the opportunity to try but everyone raves about. This product was Hazelwood. Hazelwood is know for it's natural ability to fight acid reflux and calm eczema. If you haven't met my boys they are spitters. They are exorcist spitters. If you are sitting across the room, you will get spit up on you. With my first son Andrew I used to cry thinking he was spitting up his entire meal. Now that Isaac is 3 months old I figured it was time to give hazelwood the true test. If anyone could prove that these necklaces work... it was my kid.

It was around lunch time when I remembered to put it on him. As soon as it was on he was ready to eat. After nursing I burped him and he puked. Not the whole meal but he puked. Every other feeding that day was spit up free. Not even a dribble out the side of his mouth. It was amazing.

I took the necklace off of him while he slept and during his feeding throughout the night he spit. First thing in the morning I put the necklace back on. All day today he has been spit up free. Every burp I'm waiting for the shirt filled with puke or it all in my hair and it's clean.

Since I love this product so much and it has been proven on my son I decided to order more and bring in adult hazelwood so mommies can have the relief they need as well. Here is the link to the necklaces. As always there is free shipping on amber and hazel necklaces. They come in 11", 13" & 18". They also come in a variety of colors!

When I first saw the bumGenius Freetime I thought it would be very bulky on a newborn. I assumed it would be the same as putting a one size on with two inserts. I absolutely love these. They are easy to put on and a AIO which, when you are lacking on sleep, feeding and taking care of a baby all day on top of your other children and home the last thing you want to do is stuff diapers. With that said, I give birth to large babies with both of my boys being over 10lbs, so I was skeptical of buying anything for my 3rd boy because I doubted we would need the smaller size. I did buy a few newborn diapers and regular diapers for the fun of it. When he was born at 37 weeks and 9 lbs 12 oz I was still worried about the diapers I had fitting him correctly.

Unfortunately due to being in the NICU wearing cloth just wasn't the easy option with having to weigh the diapers before and after. But I'm proud to say his first diaper was cloth. His second cloth diaper was a size 1 AppleCheeks diaper with a 2 pli insert. Let me say the fit was amazing!!!

This is Isaac sporting a size 1 Delicious envelope cover. I trifolded the 2 pli insert and laid it on top. I could've got the diaper a little bit more snug but I was nervous with his umbilical cord. New mommy jitters! :)

Here is my little wiggle worm in a size 1 Limited Edition Orange Zest - here is a tissue for that drool! :) Yes the color is absolutely gorgeous. If you can ever get your hands on one - get it!

This is the fit that looked best on Isaac. He has very skinny legs. My husband calls them chicken legs. :) He is also approximately 9lbs here. The waist is snug but comfortable and the legs are tight enough to not cause leaks but also not cause indentions from being so snug.

One thing I loved about the AppleCheeks is that it didn't rub or irritate his umbilical cord. I could fit the diaper a little higher in the back and it wouldn't hit the area. Another thing a lot of people don't know about AppleCheeks is the amazing elastic in the diapers. You simply pull the sides to "stretch" out the elastic to get a fabulous fit without it cutting into your babies legs. Here is a video to demonstrate.

Overall I would definitely recommend and purchase AppleCheeks size 1 diapers for a newborn. Not only did I get a fabulous fit but the diaper will grow with the baby much longer then the newborn stage. When my little man is ready for a size 2 I can simply purchase the larger envelope cover and reuse the 2 pli insert!

But I wasn't sure which ones I would use. I even debated over making my own (haha! If you know me, you KNOW I am not that great at sewing) or just buying a bunch of baby wash clothes. Before I made up my mind, one of my best friends sent me a package full of baby goodies for my shower gift that included 2 12 packs of wipes! So I made my mind up that I would use these wipes and with a gift card from another friend, I purchased another dozen of those same wipes and was perfectly happy using them. I still use them, and I still like them. When Laura (owners of HCT's ) started cloth diapering a mutual friend of ours had recommended her to Quilters Nappies and she purchased several of them. While I liked them, I just couldn't bring myself to paying that much for a wipe and didn't quit understand what the big hype was about them.

Several months later, Laura sent me 3 Sherpa/Velour and 3 Flannel/Velour to try out. I admit, I FELL IN LOVE!!! Now I understand what that big hype was all about! They are so soft and thick! I use half the wipes for a messy diaper then I would have to with my original wipes. The Sherpa/Velour wipes work FANTASTIC for wiping up the messiest poos while the Flannel/Velour comes in an assortment of fun colors and prints! (They work great too for messy poos!) Not only can you have cute diapers, you can also have cute wipes to go with them!

A few months ago, my daughter Abby had been having a reoccurring diaper rash that went on for about 2 months. She would break out in blisters sometimes after she had a bad acidic poo and would sometimes bleed after I wiped her area if I didn't catch it right away. I have used many different diaper rash creams that went from cloth diaper safe and "natural" to even buying a common diaper rash cream found in any store. None of them worked. The only thing that would work was neosporin. So when I was given the opportunity to try CJ's BUTTer with her most recent diaper rash, I jumped at the chance right away.

Abby's most recent rash was her normal "bad" rash that had been reoccurring! She had two open blisters at the top of her area and had a red hot bottom from the last acidic poo. I received CJ's BUTTer 4oz stick and the carcass cleanser in the mail and started using the products right away. First, I made some wipe solution with the carcass cleaner. At every diaper change I would clean the area with the carcass cleanser wipes and let the area air dry. After allowing the area to air dry, I would apply the BUTTer stick and then put her diaper back on. To maximize the healing process, I would also wash her diaper area with warm water and carcass cleanser at least three times a day.

Thirty-six hours after we started using CJ's BUTTer stick and Carcus Cleanser, her bottom looked 60% better! The two open blisters that where on her area had closed completely and the redness had decreased to a slight pinkness. After 5 days of solely using CJ's BUTTer Carcass Cleaner and Stick, Abby's redness had completely disappeared and all that remained was slight pinkness from where her big blister where.

I am pretty impressed with CJ's BUTTer. The only thing that I was too happy about with this product was the scents I received. I prefer more of the baby smells for my baby and felt that Love Spell was too much of a woman smell for my BABY girl, LOL. Besides the scent of the product, I was pleased to see my daughter's diaper area back to it's normal healthy self.

CJ's BUTTer Stick is made with Olive Oil, Beeswax, Shea Butter, Cocoa Butter, Coconut Oil, and Vitamin E. While CJ's BUTTer Carcass Cleanser is made with Pure Olive Oil, Castile Soap, Water, Shea Butter, Aloe Butter, Castor Oil, and Xanthan Gum (Corn Sugar).

I had first heard of these Canadian Diapers while I was attending my weekly breastfeeding support group in Charleston SC. A fellow breastfeeding momma/friend had just received her first AppleCheeks and was putting it on her baby. Whenever I see a new diaper I ask a ton of questions about them and usually end up buying one myself to try out. After listening to her tell me about how great and trim this diaper was for her sweet chubby little boy, I HAD to try one! As soon as I got home and laid all three of my children down for a nap, I hopped on the computer to order my first AppleCheeks. I ended up buying a size 2 periwinkle for my (at the time) 20lb short chubby 8month old girl! I only ordered the envelope cover and decided I could just use one of my extra microfiber inserts to stuff inside the AppleCheeks from another diaper. Of course when I first got it in the mail, it was my new favorite diaper like they all are for the first few weeks. But like most of the other diapers, I quickly lost interest in it because it didn't fit her right, especially with that other diaper insert inside it. It sagged down to her knees and was weird and bulky underneath her clothes.

Abby at 8mo in the Periwinkle Size 2 with other diaper insert

I ended up selling the envelope to my fellow breastfeeding momma/friend who loved these diapers so much and decided that this diaper was just not for me. Fast forward to four months later. After my best friend (Laura, owner of HCTs) had tried the whole little bundle, she was finally able to convince me to give AppleCheeks a second chance. Reluctantly, I bought another AppleCheeks, but this time a size 1 Raspberry Sorbet little bundle. As soon as I received AppleCheeks in the mail a few days later, I ripped open the package to try on my then 21.5lb skinnier 12mo old. I was pleasantly surprised at how well it fit her! It didn't sag down to her knees like the size 1 did and it was TRIM with that bamboo insert inside it!

Size 1 AppleCheeks became my favorite diaper that I was constantly reaching to in the diaper bin to use it over my other "favorites". I think this diaper spent more time in the diaper pail then it did in the diaper bin! 5 months after I had purchased the diaper, it was still one of my favorites, but it was beginning to get tight on her at 17mo and 22.5lbs and leave uncomfortable red marks from the elastic, so I traded it in and bought 7 size 2 AppleCheeks. I am still in LOVE with this diaper 6 months later and can happily say that Abby has TONS of growing room in her size 2. I love the Size 2s on her as much as I loved the Size 1 on her!

Abby at 17mo in a Size 2 Front view

The only thing that I wish was different was that there was a size between 1 and 2 as the Size 2 is a bit too big for her and the Size 1 is too small of her length wise.

The Complete Apple Cheeks Overview: The Envelope Cover or outer shell of the AppleCheeks system consists of a waterproof outer layer of PUL and a buttery soft mircofleece lining on the inside. It has elastic on front and back that are great for infants learning how to sit up with out putting pressure on their precious belly or for toddlers who need the extra wiggle room. Another great feature that the envelope offers is that the pocket opening is on the inside of the diaper so you will never have to touch the insert after it has been soiled!! The insert will magically agitate out of the diaper on it's own in the wash cycle!!!
The Insert is a 12"x15" that has two layers of ultra-soft 70% of rayon from bamboo and 30% of organic cotton fleece to give you the ultimate in comfort and absorbency. Fold this into thirds and you get six layers in the soak zone. Did I mention how soft this is?

A Booster that is made with two layers of 70% rayon and 30% of organic cotton. This is a great way to bump up your system's absorbency.
The Stay-Dry Bamboo Booster combines in benifits of the stay-dry fleece layer with the added absorbency of two layers of super thirsty rayon. Washable Nursing Pads are made of the same plush rayon from bamboo and cotton blend as the inserts are. The bottom half of the pad have three layers, while the top is tow layers, so that you get absorbency where you need it without added bulk.

My pros in the AppleCheeks Envelope system are:
- Elastic on both front and back

- No pulling out a yucky soiled insert, it shimmies out on its own!

- Trim fitting for skinny jeans!

- Two options to choose from on how to use the diaper.

While my cons are:
- Doesn't hold my heavy wetter as long as other diaper brands that come with 2 microfiber inserts.

-You have to spend a little more money on two different sized diapers compared to a one time cost of a one sized diaper. (But it's worth it for the fantastic fit!)

All in all, this diaper is one of my favorite diaper brands. After I was given the chance to review this product, I ordered more AppleCheeks. I just can't help but love the trimness of this diaper, plus the elastic waist band on both sides, AND that I don't have to pull inserts out!!

I have had some funky smells come out of my washer and dryer since I have moved across the country and went from moderate water to hard water. I have done everything to get the funky smell out of my diapers. I have tried some different cloth diaper safe and eco friendly options, but the smell would come right back each time. I had even gone as far as washing my diapers with a few tablespoons of bleach every other week just to get the funk out. So when I finally found an eco friendly solution to getting the funk out for good, I had mixed emotions from relief to doubt. I was afraid of getting my hopes up again just to find that ammonia smell back in my diapers.
I began testing funk rock by following the directions on the package and added 4 tablespoons to a tub full of hot water. I then soaked 17 "clean" smelly diapers in the bath tub for an hour. You can also let your diapers soak in your wash machine, sink, or water bucket (keep out of reach of children). But since I have a front loader machine and more then a few diapers, I felt that soaking them in the tub would be best. After an hour of soaking, I hand rinsed each insert and diaper shell under the bath tub faucet and then tossed them into the washer and washed them as I normally would with a 1 1/2 tablespoons of Rockin Green and did an extra rinse just incase. After the wash cycle was finished, I opened up the washing machine expecting the worst and to smell the ammonia or funky smell still, but they smelled like water! Clean water!! Still doubtful, I tossed them into the dryer and hung dried the shells on the line. After all 17 diapers where stuffed and put away, I began using them on my daughter. I can say that the funky ammonia smell has vanished from diapers with no trace of funk or ammonia and I have used all 17 and washed them since. I am very impressed with this product!! Rockin Green recommends that you use a tablespoon of Funk Rock in your pre wash or pre rinse cycle before using Rockin Green Laundry Detergent to keep the smells at bay.

Pros:
No more funky smells!
Softer and more fluffier diapers.
An Eco Friendly alternative to bleaching

Cons:
You have to use lots of water, so it can be time consuming to soak them in a bathtub.
Another product to buy to keep your diapers smelling good.
As a matter of fact, if there was something that was going to turn me away from cloth diapering it would have been the laundry detergent. I hated the fact that I couldn't just go to any grocery store and buy the detergent I needed. That it had to be "special" detergent or take the chance of my diapers repelling and getting ruined.

Before I gave Rockin' Green a try, I tried two other "safe" cloth diaper detergents and I was doubtful that Rockin' Green would work better than what I was already using. But after washing just a few loads of dirty diapers, I fell in love with this product.

There are three different formulas that come in several different scents. The formulas are soft rock, classic rock, and hard rock. Soft rock is designed for people with sensitive skin, or those who are lucky enough to have soft water or use a water softener. Classic rock is for average homes with mild to moderate hard water or those who are battling with stinkies. Last but not least is hard rock and it is for those with hard water and the most troubling water types.

The scents they come in are:
-Mighty Marshmallow-Smashing Watermelons
-The Plain Green Tea's
-Rage Against the Raspberries
-Motley Clean (My personal favorite!)
-Lavender Mint Revival
-Bare Naked Babies (unscented)

I used classic rock when I lived in Charleston, SC and hard rock while visiting my Mom in Missouri. My mom lives out in the country and has hard well water. Each time I've used Rockin' Green my diapers have came out fresh, clean, and for the most part, stainless.

When I first received Rockin' Green in the email in June 2010, I decided to do the ultimate test on a particularly stained white t-shirt. My daughter had smeared strawberries all over it, and I had given up and considered the shirt as a total loss. I forgot to pre-soak it and it sat in the bottom of the hamper for about a week before I finally got around to it. The detergent I was previously using did not get the stain out. So I decided to give this "Rockin A Soak" a try. On the Rockin' Green package, it states that if you have a bad stain or stinkies to soak the garments or diapers in hot water with a few tablespoons of the product. So I filled my sink with hot water and tossed in 2 tablespoons of Rockin' Green. I swished the t-shirt in the solution and let it sit overnight for 12 hours. The next morning, I rinsed the shirt under the faucet and then ran it through a wash cycle with no detergent. I was surprised to pull out a clean white t-shirt that I thought for sure was ruined!! To my surprise, Rockin' Green got the stain out!

In my opinion, with Rockin' Green, not only are you getting a great all around detergent, but you are also getting a stain fighting detergent that will work miracles on your clothes and diapers. Since I have switched to Rockin' Green, I use it for all of my laundry and have not had any issues. I can honestly say that I can't think of one negative thing about this product, and I would recommend it to anyone whether they cloth diaper or not!

BEFORE:

Eco Nuts are completely sustainable dried fruit shells that come from the Sapindus mukorossi tree in Nepal, India and Indonesia that have been used for centuries in India and China for laundering.

I had no clue what Eco Nuts were when I was first asked to review them by a good friend. I was very skeptical of this product. I mean, how can dried fruit shells clean your laundry?! Especially diapers?

I received a small box of these dried fruit shells in the mail a few days later that can wash 50 hot washes or 90 cold washes. The box was little bigger then a watch box. It came with 2 small cloth bags that hold your soap nuts in the wash cycle. 4-5 soap nuts can wash 5-7 washes on hot and up to 9 washes on cold. I wanted to know exactly how many times I could use the same 5 soap nuts before having to throw them out so I put new nuts in the bag and proceeded to wash a weeks worth of clothes like I normally do with a combination of hot, warm, and cold washes.

First up came a load of 12 Fuzzi Bunz, 4 prefolds, and a fitted. As soon as the load of diapers were finished, I ran into the laundry room and swung the wash machine's door open and grabbed the closest insert and took a deep inhale. NOTHING! It smelled like nothing! I couldn't believe it! I grabbed another insert, and another, and another! Still, they smelled clean! After carefully removing every diaper shell and insert and taking a deep inhale into every single one of them and not finding even the hint of ammonia or poo, I was sold on this fabulous product!

After the diapers, I washed a load of towels on hot/cold that consisted of 4 body towels, 2 hand towels, and 6 wash clothes. Next came a load of 6 pairs of jeans on cold/cold. Then a medium load of colors on warm/cold. After the load of colors came a smaller load of whites on warm/warm. Then I washed our king sized sheets on hot/cold. And finally I washed my husband's work uniforms that had a particular "boat smell" to them on cold/cold. EVERYTHING came out smelling fresh and clean including the boat smell uniform. If your husband is in the navy, you know exactly what I am talking about!

I was able to to wash 7 loads of laundry with the same Eco Nuts before having to replace the used soap nuts with fresh ones. Eco Nuts work best for small to medium loads of laundry with no major stains. The manufacturer says that it will not get stains out of your clothes. However, not one of my diaper shells or inserts had a stain on them when I pulled them out of the washer.

Some Pros to Eco Nuts:

-They are eco friendly with no additives or dies

-All of my clothes and diapers came out smelling fresh and clean

-I don't have to worry about detergent build-up.

Cons to Eco Nuts:

-They cannot clean large loads of clothes

-They seemed to work better in hot or warm water vs. cold water.
I have been married to my best friend and High School Sweetheart, Ronnie for almost 7 years. We are all originally from Hillsboro, Missouri. In 2006 a month after Noah was born my husband joined the Navy and left for boot camp. After graduating boot camp we all moved to Charleston, South Carolina and lived there for 4 years while he was went through different schools and did some shore duty there. We have just recently moved to San Diego, California and are projected to be here for the next 4 years.
Two years ago I made the switch to living a green more healthier lifestyle. I have started using reusable grocery bags, recycling, using natural cleaners (I've even attempted to make my own. That was interesting!) eating more healthy organic whole foods, and of course, cloth diapering!

I didn't learn about the modern day cloth diapers like Bum Genius or Fuzzi Bunz until my son Noah was about 18 months old. What I thought was cloth diapering consisted of gerber prefolds that you see at Walmart or Target that you had to pin with safety pins and then put the plastic pants over them so they would leak. And then when the baby makes a mess in the diaper, you had to throw them into a wet pail after twirling them into the toilet first. GROSS! Atleast, that is how my mother cloth diapered us. So for my boys, I was all about the easy way, disposables.

A mom I knew at a local mom's group (MOPS) cloth diapered her two younger boys. I remember sitting at the table in amazement as she stuffed some cloth stuff inside a navy blue diaper. I asked her a few question about the diaper and how it could fit both her 2 year old and her infant sons. After the MOPS meeting, I went home and Googled cloth diapers. I was very quickly overwelmed with all the information on the computer. There where pockets, one size diapers, all in ones, sized diapers and you had to wash them a certain way with "special" detergent that I wouldn't be able to find at the grocery store. And the price! They seemed so expensive! By this time, Noah was 18 months. He would be potty training soon and it didn't seem like it would be worth the initial cost to start. So then, I made the promise to myself that if I was to have another, I would cloth diaper. And it is all thanks to this one Mom at MOPS who did things out of the "norm" that had influenced me to change for the better.

I was ecstatic when I found out I was pregnant and going to get to cloth diaper! As soon as I got past the 12week pregnancy mark I started researching all the cloth diapers that I could! A close friend of mine had recently had a baby and had me come to her house so she could show me the ropes on how to clean, stuff, and put them on a baby. She also showed me how to make my own cloth wipe solution and some different cool cloth diapering accessories. I will admit, I was VERY overwhelmed! She is a type A personality and was so organized. I am type B personality and NOT very organized. How was I ever going to do this? I doubted that I would be able to stick with cloth diapering.

Half way through my pregnancy I took the risk and bought all 24 one size diapers that I was going to need to cloth diaper this baby until potty training. I even decided to not use disposable at birth and bought some newborn diapers to get me through until she would fit into her one sizes. As soon as she came home she went into her first cloth diaper. I only had 14 so I was washing daily. I was amazed at how easy it was to cloth diaper! They all came out clean, I didn't ruin any of them, and I was able to stay organized with them! The BEST perk about cloth diapering a breastfeeding newborn was that I did not have one single mustard seed blow out while using cloth diapers! THEY HELD EVERYTHING IN! Amazing!!

Fifteen and a half months later I am OBSESSED with my daughter's diaper bottom! I went from 24 Bum Genius 3.0's to a staggering 55 different types of diapers that include; Bum Genius 4.0's and one 3.0, Fuzzi Bunz, Happy Heiny's, Rumparooz, Apple Cheeks, Thristie's Duo Diapers, Goodmamas, and a handful of prefolds. Not only have I saved $1,200 by cloth diapering, I have also saved an average of 4,032 diapers from going into the landfills and sitting there for fifty years before biodegrading. -Noreen Smith
